3. Vaanar Sena

This exhibit represents the children who became voluntary Swachhagrahis (sanitation warriors) for the SBM, because of their belief in the need for progress, health and dignity in their villages. Banding together and forming groups like the Vaanar Sena [Ramayana’s legendary monkey warriors], these children ensured that people stopped following the primitive practice of Open Defecation and began using toilets at home. To achieve this, they employed a number of mischievous games, like hanging from trees around defecation spots, whistling at people going out with a lota, and stealing the lotas themselves!
